Cat Nipped Vampire

I know it's nearly over for Autumn, yet it still looks and feels like Autumn around here, so I haven't lost the taste for it or for themes that are more related to October.

Cat Nipped Vampire was an exploration of digital collage, a mix of scanned elements in my collection and selected imagery from a Halloween shop online. I wanted to test my liking of digital collage, but it seems there are still some non concrete things about it, mainly the fact when done digitally collage seems to have floating objects instead of that solid, glued to the page appearance.

I was inspired to make this odd picture because of the face the vampire head was making, like someone had just stepped on his foot, or in this case like he had been nipped by something.
I used a headless horseman statue for his body, his head was actually severed. All thing in this picture just make me chuckle because the critters are having a scream.

Maybe this vampire doesn't like cats, ran into the wrong alleyway, the lights turned on and no one is happy. Mr Vampit just wants to get home with his jack o lantern, but is having a busy night.

Warframe Thanks Giving

My nerdy ideas never seize, and my list of Warframe jokes and art ideas are becoming quite a collection.

There are things in the game that make me think of other things. Lots of players have jokes relating to food and Warframe. I got the idea of a Warframe Thanks Giving based off of certain resources that made me think of food items.
I put together this collage above using screen shots of said resources I have scanned and ready to view within my game inventory. Choosing a plate was a bit odd, but I found an upside down arcane machine worked pretty well.

Mora Frame-Coalember Fashion Design

Coalember set 1- Created Oct. 10, 2018

Many fashion series on my list are inspired by anything and everything as a theme, but Warframe seems to be the biggest inspiration lately.
Now the series is extending with the ideas of Warframe characters being made to represent role play characters. Two of our hobbies are being combined and Tarrok has been inspired to make role play themed frames, and I've been taking those images and turning them into fashion ideas for the actual characters they represent.

The two panels above are a series of outfit ideas for Coaline based off of the first version of Coal's frame represented by Ember. This was Tarrok's first attempt at making a Mora role play themed frame.

I explored using the different components of a single idea, and added as I went, playing around with different versions of the same design. It resulted in many different variations.

Coalember set 2- Created Nov. 15, 2018

I had mentioned to Tarrok that the first version of Ember representing Coal seemed a bit too red. He tried a second time and added more orange to the form, and I elaborated on that design as well. This got me a second set of Coalember costumes, one set a basic set of boots and shirt styles (left) and the other set more costume like and fancy yet rough (right).
The right version I call the battle event design, something I imagine Coal wearing during special events involving fights. She would wear this as a spectator, the princess of the dragon worshipers on Salson. Her father would encourage her to taunt and tease so long as she wasn't committed to her admirers, and she knew that her father could achieve anything as the leader of half the island, king of nearly all of Salson.

When I showed Tarrok the battle event design (also called the tournament or contest design), he didn't like the headdress. The following joking was what we said. I went ahead and designed a second helmet, more thought out and interesting with different variations as shown here.

It's made to look like a crown with detachable veil.

I didn't stop with just that helmet design though. I followed inspiration on something I had Sicline say about Coal in a recent role play episode. She hinted that Coal was the devil, and considering where Coal comes from she is a bit spooky and rough. This inspired me to make another helmet design by combining the first and then adding horns and a sheer red cape with beads (left).

The last thing I worked on for further detail was the boot design from her second costume set. I played with making them either flat or heeled, one set with clawed toes and the other not. I personally like the heeled boots with no claws, but the clawed ones fit the theme of Junshau and dragons, something that's a big thing on Salson.

Sephy Lawn Fragment

Sephy Lawn Fragment. Some art pieces done with puns in mind. Only Tarrok would truly get this pun because we both play Warframe, and Seph is his personal character. Seph likes being called Sephy, and then the term Cephalon fragment from Warframe broken down made me think "Sephy lawn fragment". This gave me the idea of Seph as a yard gnome.

Tarrok groaned at the joke, hoped Coal didn't have a figurine of Seph on her desk because that would be creepy, and then said it would be worse if it were a bobble head of Seph.
That did give me an idea for one of the villain characters to have one of those made, and then secretly place it on Coal's desk just to make Seph and her both offset. "Um, Coal, why do you have a boggle of me?"- "I was about to you ask you what kind of joke you're playing by setting this on my desk"- "It wasn't me, Coal".
I ended up making a chibi version of Poras in concept (Poras is another young character from the role play I have the role of). His form was the first one I drew, but I didn't like it for Seph and ended up using it for another character. I made pages to hold the stages of sketching, inking, and complete with color.
