Snow Day-Frosted Branches

Another snow day and a snapshot of the front yard tree with its interesting frosted branches. It may have been even more interesting if not for the cars and oh so lovely trash cans.....
The snow was a good texture for sculpture, so I made this fairy house. It's actually more of a scene that's part of a story, thought about the story while I built it.
Nearly half my day was actually spent doing still life photography in the snow. Of what? You can see it all on the post Frosted Stories where more details on the day are included, and extra pictures of the snow house can be found, its story told near the end of the post.
Come on in.

White Night Bright Night- yoga costumes

White Night and Bright night, outfits inspired off a an idea of yoga clothes that are both comfy and pretty. The theme is inspired off of snow and stary nights.

The snow version for ladies (far left) came to mind from a small day dream of my character Sicline, an ice type from the MN-CN-I RP. I pictured her practicing with her ice blades while wearing a pair of flowing pants accented with sparkles, her top Grecian draped yet fitting, mimicking the theme of folded snow layers (or clouds in the night sky in the case with the black version of this outfit).

I liked the ladies versions, so I figured making matching male versions would be fun too. The male versions of this outfit collection are inspired off of Cirque Du Soleil costumes, specifically the flying man costume from Alegria (picture of him below).

I always loved his pants style and the way they moved during his performance, that inspiration has carried into many of my pants designs.

Cupid Heart Valentine

Yay, I love Valentine's Day colors and themes, they make me so happy. :)

As part of my joy for Valentine's Day stuff, and for the heck of participating in the Valentine's Day art exchange on DA, I went and made this cupid heart valentine, a fun little image added to my one dollar recycled sketch book.

This could easily make a nice card on 5x7 paper. I used letter stencils and hearts, drew my draping cloth, added a stamp image to the center, outlined with black pen, and colored using markers and gold jell pen.
To get that fun lacy look on my heart centerpiece, I used a heart stencil and made the shapes connect into each other.

Hearts and Parties

"Hearts and Parties", a collage inspired off several different feelings, thoughts, and urges.

I've been diving into Deviant Art to feed a sudden urge of creativity, thriving for the world of collage, a lasting and loved art form in my list that gets tossed in with mixed mediums. My inspiration has taken a trip down fantasy lane, dreaming of love stories (seeing Valentine's Day is coming up), craving a social event of some kind, and being partially inspired by online acting in stories invented between friends. This all melded into one big ball of an odd feeling, and I got the craving to do something collage off my chest, which also helped me express an unexplainable set of emotions I've had lately.

It was rather difficult getting a decent enough image for sharing. The collage is done on a 12x12 sheet of white paper. I couldn't scan it in sections because the 3D objects on it caused the scan quality to be poor, so I had to settle with a photo of the image (which still doesn't fully satisfy me), but will have to do.

Art process and mediums used: My base inspiration to make this art piece started from a potted plant wrapper (you know, the pretty plastic stuff that lines the pots of poinsettias or mini evergreens during the holidays). I used this wrapper to make my lady's gown. With some tracing paper and my hand drawn lady, I made the gown to fit just right.
I cut some strips of lace and secured them to the layered gown with simple needle and thread tacking.
My background was stenciled with red pan pastel, then edged with gold emboss stamping.
For my lady's hair, artwork hearts on the wall, and lanterns, I used stamps on regular paper
 and cut them out.
After that I colored my images with marker, added pastel for blush to my lady's cheeks; used jell pens for jewelry, sparkle accents, and hair detail; then finalized by image by gluing on some gems to the gown.

It's been a long while since I've done some mixed medium, collage work, and I must say it was fun to revisit my craft desk with an urge to create.

Crazy dog-Espresso-Holy wipes/ photos

Some more old photos from here and there through the years. It can be a fun art form to capture those little life moments through a lens and the click of a button.

The photo above, what was up with this dog? It's like it was staring at me in terror with those big googly eyes. The night time atmosphere in a parking lot made it all the more amusing.
Espresso, a coffee sign with coat hooks, nice edition for a coffee shop (Aromas); but even more perfect is where they placed it, right next to the bathrooms (what does this imply.....hmm?) :P Unfortunately this object is no longer on the wall there.
The beauty of light. Need some wipes? Light will show the way. This makes me have one of those Indiana Jones moment kind of feeling, you know? Seeking for some holy wipes and there they are with the light glowing off their lid that shines like a diamond.

Carrot Baby-Carrot Butt

A long time ago we planted some fluky carrot seeds which grew into abnormal carrot creatures. When this was I can't recall, but the above picture still amuses me despite it's shabby quality.

The carrot naturally looked this way, had a weird trunk nose and green hair tuft. We added black beads for eyes just to be funny (looks like a relative of Groot.) :P
It was an old carrot, had a hole in its head (looks kind of like a brain tumor) O.O
It was odd enough finding a fun carrot creature, but then this was yanked from the dirt. Apparently carrots have butts too. XP
