Whimsical Hand Decorated Journal

The most recent project of mine is decorating a blank journal that my mom got for four dollars at Big Lots.
I was trying to decide how to decorate it at first, and then I came to the decision to paint it with lime green acrylics, and then add black gems.
The process was fun, and the results were satisfying. It reminds me of something out of a fairytale.

I went through several sketches before making a final decision of which design I liked best. And I chose the very last one that I drew as my main idea. After that I traced the book's size and drew a full design on that.
The next step I took was Taping the design on the book and pressing in the lines with an embossing tool. This resulted in a pressed design on the books cover so I had guide lines of where to paint.
In order to get the desired color of green for my paint I mixed together a metallic green and bright metallic gold with just a bit of apple green acrylic from a smaller tube. This mix resulted in a metallic lime green tone that I wanted.
Once the painting process was complete, I added black gems and it was officially finished.
